We use extremely thin needles (much smaller than those used for blood tests). They are for single-use and are pre-sterilised for your safety.

Is acupuncture covered by ACC?

ACC partially covers the cost of acupuncture treatments for accident related injuries where a claim has been approved by ACC. Claire Solomon, at Bloom Acupuncture, is a recognised ACC Treatment Provider. Once you have an ACC45 claim number from your GP or other Treatment Provider, you can book in for treatment of that injury.

Back Pain

Will it hurt?

Sometimes a small prick sensation or tingling may initially occur, but generally, there is a dull, heavy feeling after needling. Often people are so relaxed that they fall asleep for the rest of the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally, 6 - 10 treatments is accepted as a standard course. Commonly, more acute conditions can take less, but more chronic conditions may take longer. You may initially need two treatments a week, then as symptoms improve, weekly treatment is likely. For infertility cases, generally, 3 to 6 months of weekly treatments is often required.

How will I feel after acupuncture?

Depending on the type of treatment you received, you may feel very relaxed and calm or you may feel revitalized and more clear-headed. It is not unusual to feel like resting after a treatment and occasionally your symptoms may flare for a short time before settling. Generally, the effects of the treatment will be more obvious the following day.
